I'm thinking about starting a colony of Crematogaster minutissima, and I've only seen one other person raise them.

The main reason that I want to raise them is because from what I've read this species has what's called egg laying intermorphs. These special queen/worker hybrid ants are nearly as large as the queen and lay eggs themselves. From more research it appears that the average size for a colony is 200 workers and intermorphs, but I have seen on my own property colonies way larger than this, with nearly a tenth of the workers being intermorphs. The queens are very small so I don't know how long their lifespan is, but these huge colonies I've seen clearly couldn't get there from one tiny queen, she may not even still be alive in some of them.

Anyways, they are everywhere on my property and so acquiring a young colony is no problem. Should I try this or am I overlooking something, is there some reason that no one keeps these.
