So I'm making an out world for my small C. nearcticus colony and I was just wondering if Vaseline would be an efficient barrier?

I used Vaseline for my camponotus chromaiodes colony and it work fine, after a month I started to notice them leaving garbage in the middle of the barrier, so they were finding a way past. Just make sure there is a think, barrier maybe and inch and I like to just cover the corners from the top to bottom.
