I captured this strange queen ant, well I think it's a queen. My question is can anyone identify if it is a queen and what species it is. Also has she mated? Here is the picture https://ibb.co/dgvt0Qshe was moving so its a bit blurry. Yes she does have 6 legs you can't really see all of them.

We really can't help you without a picture of the actual ant... especially since that picture doesn't even look like a queen, it bears more resemblance to a male army ant.

Also, we can't tell wether or not an actual queen is fertilized just by looking at a photo.

Most likely a male ant. It is hard to give a definite I.D. for this one, given the low resolution of the photo. It may help to tell us where the photo was taken.

All ant queens and workers have "ellbows" in their antennae. If an insect doesn't have antenna ellbows it's not a queen and probably not even an ant (it may be a male though).

Yeah that looks like a wasp - ant antennae don't bend backwards like that.

It's definitely not a queen, the only ants that look even remotely similar are Dorylus males.

Where as in what part of the country? Also please try to put the photo in the body of the message, many people here will not follow outside links, myself included.

I found it in California on my bed.

Ahh piece of cake, nocturnal velvet ant male. Id to species not so easy since the taxonomy is so messed up.
