Has anyone ever tried products like Biofreeze, icy hot, or Bengay as an alternative to Vaseline? What about adding cinnamon powder to Vaseline to deter the ants from crossing?

Never tried it, but that is a heck of an idea!  :)

I'd be afraid of adding something with too many chemicals. You never know what'll be toxic to the ants. I use organic extra virgin olive oil, and for as much as people say species I have can cross it, they personally seem to hate it and I see them fall off it all the time, so wouldn't hurt to try that.
