As some of you might know I own 5 L. niger ants without a queen to see if I like antkeeping.
They live in an acrylic 6cm x 4cm formucarium with a watering system. (

They nearly all the time rest on the watering system unit (cement thing) and I just wanted to ask if it's normal for all the ants to just sit in one place. They seem to huddle close to each other.
The temperature in my room is 19-24 °C.
Also can ants get bored of their surroundings? Should I move them to an arena with soil so they can explore and dig, or is it fine for them to stay in their acrylic home?

Yes, it is very normal for ants to sit still for long periods of time. Sometimes they'll fall over and won't get up till your startle them.
And yes, idk if it's "bored" but i do feel like ants can be picky when it comes to their surroundings both inside the nest and the outworld. My very first setup was a Desert Theme with sand and rocks for an Aphaenogaster picea colony. They rarely stepped foot in their outworld until i hooked up a forest themed outworld with moss and wood. Afterwards they became rather active in their outworld.
