1. Location of collection: Just south of St. Louis
2. Date of collection: 6/30/17
3. Habitat of collection: Near a streetlight
4. Length (from head to gaster): 7-7.5 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Dark brown head and mesosoma, brown and yellow striped gaster
6. Distinguishing characteristics: One petiole I think, no visible spines or hair, slight point at the end of the gaster
7. Distinguishing behavior: None
8. Nest description: Not sure. I don't recognize the species.

As a side note, parking a white car under a streetlight seem very effective at attracting queens.

Yeah, C. impressa looks spot on. Didn't even know these kinds of ants lived around here. I don't see a lot of information about them. Any tips for raising them?

Thanks. It sounds like these ants have some pretty specific needs. Luckily, I have access to plenty of clear, rigid tubing, so I'm going to put her in a 5mm tube and see if she does well.
