hoping to get these workers identified
i think that these are Pogonomyrmex maricopa or californicus but i am so new to ant keeping that i could be easily be wrong
here are the technical details:
Location of collection : open field full of grass, weeds and dirt patches. found in west valley city utah
2. Date of collection : June 14th 2017
3. Habitat of collection : open field grasses weeds, ect
4. Length : 6 or 7 mm
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture : dark red maybe a bit of orange
6. Distinguishing characteristics : two petiole nodes, no spines
7. Anything else distinctive (ie: odor, behavior, characteristics relative to others in the colony, etc.).
8. Nest description : lots of gravel like rock / earth
9 . Pictures : My phone camera sucks this one is the only legible ones
