Found under a potted plant being moved. I think she is Pheidole sp? 
1. Location of collection: Summerville SC
2. Date of collection: 6/9/2017 
3. Habitat of collection: my house, woods and creek nearby
4. Length (from head to gaster): about 6mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Looks red and black/brown.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: large head and jaws.
7. Distinguishing behavior: none
8. Nest description: small oval chamber with clump of eggs in middle

I think you're right, I'd say Pheidole.
