was found under a log. It has recently molted

 

it decided it did not like the camera

 

the skin

 

enclosure

Hard to see but it definitely looks to be a tarantula. Post some photos once its a bit bigger and someone might be able to ID it... Hong Kong is not my area of expertise.

it is probably phlogiellus xinping (garden tarantula)

Haha I was thinking Phlogiellus looked possible with those big furry legs but like I said...I don't know a whole lot about HK's bugs. Good luck with it!

well he still is pretty vicious, he took down a venomous caterpillar and a termite alate

That is normal, it is probably just molting. They are extra sensitive during that time so they seal up their burrows for safety.

Hopefully in a few days you will have an even bigger spider :)

he has molted

 

Gotten a little larger and comes out during the night

I got that before he raced back inside his burrow
