Hi Guys, I'm relatively new to the ant keeping scene, but I have gotten extremely lucky and have 2 myrmecia queens I found out and about, 1 nigriscapa, 1 pyriformis. Both have been confirmed as queens but i have a brooding question.
I have constructed small aerated concrete nests that I am keeping on the dry side. They have drip feed honey water spouts and a tunnel to a very basic plastic tub outworld with no features, just some damp cotton balls. My questions is this. Should I restrict them to the nesting area with a ready supply of sugars and wait for larvae until I open up the out world, with some protein scattered about? Or should I let them come and go as they please?
your advice would be appreciated, they are beautiful ants with a lot of personality!
