Open on the trail I was squatting down to look at a smaller species of ant and these guys just ran up from behind me
4. Length (from head to gaster):
0.9cm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture:
Black head and gaster with a yellowish brown thorax and legs
6. Distinguishing characteristics:
the head and gasters different colors and the overall size of the ants, compared to other local species that i'm used to these are MUCH larger
7. Distinguishing behavior:
I noticed one of them was just standing dormant save it's legs. The legs were wiggling side to side while he/she stood there
8. Nest description:
Again no nest just found on the trail

(btw i know these are workers and its kinda [censored] to remove them from their colony but fret not friends i'm returning to the island tomorrow to put the workers back as well as take some more pictures of where i got these goobers)
