I was wondering how difficult is it to keep Prenolepis Imparis ants, I have read that they sometimes will stop laying eggs and basically give up. I have always wanted a colony of them but have never been able to find the Queen's, I can resort to buying one but I don't want it to be a waste because it just gives up and stops laying eggs.

From what I've read, they aren't the easiest species to keep. There's differing opinions on whether they get along better in polygynous colonies or monogynous ones. I've also heard that their behavior can vary depending on whether the queen is from a forested environment or an urban one. Supposedly the latter are more aggressive and less likely to accept multiple queens.

I have a colony of p.imparis and they have been really easy so far, they are in hibernation rn but we'll see if the queen lays her second batch of eggs this year. I'll probably make a topic on what I've learned if she does, so I'll have more info for you then :)

I am from NC, the temperature here is around 70-75, and spring starts around March.
