Ant orientation and memory

Looks like ant orientation is a lot more complex than anticipated. Ants can visually analyze and remember their environments and keep on their path even if they cannot see where they are going. And they have a good memory as well as they can easily find back to food they had to leave behind when checking for a way back home.

Yep, they also leave scent trails wherever they go.

Not all of them - desert ants (like silver ants) and dinosaur ants (like Bull ants) usually don't (they heavily rely on optical flow and landmarks to find their way).
