3. suburban area. was found under tree bark
4.9-11mm however gaster was very full
5. bright orange, very smooth and bald.Gaster translucent when full
6. Yellow patches on "cheek areas"
7. would sometimes play dead when provoked

Yup! It's Camponotus Variegatus! It's the only camponotus here in Hawaii.
