So here's the deal, I know ants hibernate between temperatures of anywhere from 40 - 65 degrees F.

BUT - I have no wine cooler

I do not have the money for one

My refridgerator is though to be by my parents colder then 40 degrees F

I STILL HAVENT HIBERNATED MY ANTS AND ITS NOVEMBER 18TH THAT I AM POSTING THIS

ARe they gonna die?

Put them in a basement or if worst comes to worse a garage or shed and insulate them.

Hit "Like This" if it helped.

No they will NOT die if you do not hibernate them. It's not too good for them and you DEFINITELY shouldn't not hibernate them two years in a row but they can actually survive a year without hibernation. After two years of not hibernating the colony will become slower and start to produce smaller workers.

If you really can't hibernate them keep them as cold as possible (around 20°C should do) and buy an incubator until next year so you can hibernate them there. Or wish for one for Christmas, in many southern temperate regions ants do not really hibernate before December anyway.

We should respect all forms of consciousness. The body is just a vessel, a mere hull.

Put them in a basement or if worst comes to worse a garage or shed and insulate them.

Well, question: If I put them in my basement will they be okay cause the basement has our laundry machines in it and my mom goes to do laundry down there every so often. It is also packed with other bugs which I can prevent though by insuring the tube and its sourounding area is blocks but yeah. Also I access my basement from the outside, its not one of those where you can have a stairs going from it into your house. Also there a a pool table which hasn't been moved in like 6 years so would that be good to put them on? Thanks.
