Hey everyone, lately I have become very interested in finding a formicaria made out of sand or some other substance that my pogonomyrmex colony would be able to tunnel through. My Pogonomyrmex californicus colony is currently housed in a Phalanx by Tarheelants. The colony has a little over 100 workers at the moment and the larger they get the more they seem to want a sand/dirt formicarium. Since dspdrew's amazing formicaria are not sold seperately from a colony and I have no experience with acrylic I would like to buy one. Does anyone know of any good formicaria that would allow my ants to tunnel through substrate?

Drew, you should make a store for your substrate based formicariums, I would totally buy one for Christmas!!!

Maybe you should use acrylic or some container, then use dspdrew's formula for his substrate, which I think is half clay half dirt from where they came from. Check the forums for yourself, though I am pretty sure that is dspdrew's dirtbox formula. I think you need a hydrostone in the middle too, and my Myrmecocystus thrive in that sort of container

Honestly ctantkeeper, there is a lot of competition out there. And there is more that keeps coming! However drew would have an advantage because people from formiculture know him. So I don't now how well it would do.
