Wait? What? Is this even an ant let alone a queen? I copied the template for queen ants over.

1. Location of collection: East Ipswich QLD
2. Date of collection: 22-10-2016
3. Habitat of collection: On the pavement
4. Length (from head to gaster): Approximately 12 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: She is a dark brown. Somewhat shiny texture, but definitely not smooth
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Head and antennae somewhat like a cockroach. Tip of gaster like a cockroach. Legs like a cockroach. Body shape like an ant. Mandibles of an ant. Covered with fine hair. Seems to have an enlarged petiole (compared to an ant).
7. Distinguishing behavior: Very quiet. Didn't react much to my fingers

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.

Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.

Hi, I know all insects better than I do ants, which isn't the best to have on a ant keeping forum but at least i can use the skill now, lol.

That is a Black Rove Beetle. When you try and touch it, does it raise raise it's hind legs up and kind of throw it's rear into the air? :D

I think he is referring to the Devil's coachman, a species of rove beetle. However, I am going to have to disagree and say blister beetle due to abdomen shape and overall appearance.

What part of "this is a wasp" don't you get. Most likely family Myrmosidae.

Yeah for those who still don't see that it's a wasp, look at the thorax and antennae and compare it to a rove beetle.
