Hey Guys, (Greets from Germany so i hope my english is fine for you to understand)

Atm i am reading as much as i can reagrding Ant Keeping and the Species Acromyrmex. But as i said - only reading. I am not going to buy Ants tmr.

Maybe some words to my person. I am not new to Animal Keeping. I got my first Spider (G. rosea) at the age of six. Of course my Dad keep the spider but i was learning many things and as time goes by and i got older i got more spiders. Btw i am not 25 y.o. Sadly my Dad sold the Spiders when i move to my own Apartmend (without me knowing) before i could take them to me.

After this i got into Snakes. Still keeping a few spiders like Cupinius salei and Latrodectus mactans. But more into Venomous Snakes.

These are the Snakes i keep:

- 1.1 Naja pallida

- 1.2 D. angusticeps

- 1.0 Naja naja

- 1.1 Crotalus atrox

- 1.1 Crotalus basiliscus

- 1.1 Bitis arietans

- 0.1 Oxyuranus microlepidotus

- 0.1 Naja atra

- 0.1 Ophiophagus hannah

So i would say i do have some experience for keeping special pets with some special needs.

But for Ants i am a beginner! But i do not want some kind of "Starter Ant". In fact i think there are no Starter-Ants. Every Species do have some kind of special needs and i do not want to keep an Ant with the point in mind that i want them to survive some mistakes. When you think you gonna make mistakes in keeping i think you should not keep any Pets! As i said every Ant got some special needs so i think with enough preperation you can start with Pheidole megacephala or with some Atta Ants. (Money and space required ;) )

That where some infos about me and now into keeping:

Starting with Acromyrmex is not a good idea! that's what many ppl would say. But i am into serious keeping so ... preperation is the key.

Because i am from Germany i can not order from AntCanada. But instead of linking to a German shop i am Linking to Pictures what i would buy. I hope that is okay!

This is my Card (In Theory):

6 aditional of these

And for the Ants to build there own ventilationsystem

The Colony will have "a few hundred" of worker Ants. So i do not know if i will have all 3 Cages connected from the beginning but i do know that i have them when i need more.

What do you say about my plan ?

Best Wishes

Mike

I agree with these not being starters but I personally think that it could be easy because they start with a few hundred workers. However you should watch out for pesticides as much as possible because it might kill the fungus
