I don't understand the question "via purchasing".

You can pay via venmo, paypal, or cash. Pickup preferred. PM me for location and details.

Correct, the least expensive ones from this year are in test tube setups for $150 (testaceus). You will eventually NEED a THA setup or similar. These all come with super detailed care sheets on what to do once you get them.

So those are ones you caught this year? Would that mean I would only be able to get them via purchasing? Also the cheapest ones in test tubes are $150 correct? Thanks.

Yeah, the nuptial flight season for pots is still going, we have had like no rain this monsoon season.

Honeypot flights may not happen this year. It doesn't look like August will see any rain unfortunately. We should have gotten lots of honeypots by early July.

I also do not sell single honeypot queens unless we find tons of them. Last year found about 50 mexicanus queens, kept all of them, and only 12 made it to a strong colony (three left for sale).

So yeah, if you want honeypots as in Mexicanus or Navajo, you are going to have to drive out to where it rains and dig them up. If you want Mendax, Wheeleri, or Testaceus, those have already flown for the year. Mendax may fly again in the fall, but again that is going to depend on where it rains.

I meant that if I wanted honeypots this year I'd have to buy them because they already flew.

Yeah, nurbs has come up with some of the greatest species nicknames: fraggles, salasabeans, so on and so forth.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

I just learned that the etymology of "fraggles" was actually coined by accident when Drew texted Nurbs referencing Camponotus fragilis and his cell phone telephone autocorrected it to "fraggles".

Haha pretty sure the word "fraggle" doesn't exist in a phone's autocorrect dictionary.

The first time "fraggle" was mentioned in our texts was September 2016. I named them that because I grew up in the 80s (old man) and watched the Fraggle Rock tv show as a kid.

That makes more sense, I always assumed "fraggles" had something to do with fraggle rock as I used to watch it as a kid, and it was the first thing I thought of when I first heard them referenced as such (I always loved the doozers, and their little construction projects). But then Drew told me it was coined by accident by his auto correcting phone...

However it was first coined it is a well fitting sobriquet, as Camponotus fragilis definitely can go all crazy and run around like mad just like the Fraggles from Fraggle Rock have been seen doing in numerous episodes.

If it ever rains this summer and we get more fraggles, I'm gonna charge $9489578934573489573894759347578345897345 per queen. Buy 88 and get one free. Might actually make a profit this time!

Apparently kids here in CA find them super crazy desirable. Who woulda thunk. Been into this hobby for over ten years and had no idea they were so prized. I mean, these things are all over the CA desert. Not like those rare absquatulators that Drew and I have been desiring for years.
