Hi I'm new to form. I live in Lancaster CA. Looking to purchase a queen or Small Colony for my son and I to enjoy. My father had large farms. For the past yr my son has really grown to love it. We have just been buying the ants from online. Never a queen. Just built my formicaruim. I figured if he stayed interested this long I might as well relive my childhood day loving ants. Any help would be appreciated. Also like I said I'm new to form so I'm reading the rules. Forgive me and correct my mistakes

The ants are already flying this year, you might be able to catch a queen with your son. Look for founding chamber evidence and dig some up if you miss a flight.

Soon, in about 1-2 months? Will have several species available.

I do have quite a few colonies, but they are not for sale yet. Waiting for some to get more workers and waiting to see if I find anything new and exciting this year that will push those off the shelf and into the market.

Hello Nurbs,You also have good variety. I think you will be selling out quickly but if possible could we arrange to meet in may so I can purchase any leftover colonies you have?

Life is amazing, it is what it should be.

Yeah sure. If you are driving far Drew has a ton as well. Most of what I sell are usually leftovers or year old colonies with more workers. Drew collects a lot and sells a lot.

There will probably be an explosion of colonies on the market early summer when all these eclose.

Nurbs, can we get a rough price estimate of some of these colonies. These Camponotus get me excited.

Soon, Siranticus! This thing called Life has kept me busy.

Lots of pics coming. If you're wondering about pricing, it will be similar to Drew's. Maybe a tad higher because I am waiting for more workers.

Right now, C. clarithorax, V. pergandei, and C. sansabeanus all have workers and will be ready shortly with images and pricing.

C. laevigatus, C. vicinus (red or black variety), and C. modoc (one my of favorites, they grow fast for Camponotus. I had two colonies last year that had majors within the first year) should be ready in 1-2 months.

May have a few C. vicinus in a polygynous setup (ranging from 2-4 queens in the red or black variety) if they are successful.

I have less than 20 C. quercicola, and since this is my first year rearing them, will probably keep half of them til next year. If the rest are successful, those will go on sale as well. They will also be the highest priced Camponotus per worker.

What is this "life" you speak of. Is it like ants, but less fun. Don't forget that C. modoc has beautiful golden hairs on their abdomen. Would the C. vicinus polygyne colonies be at double price. Or would they just be slightly raised. Surely you wouldn't sell them for normal price. One last thing, which one of these get the largest sized workers of any caste? Thanks, and good night.

Yeah, their furry golden butts. Hard to miss  :)

They will be more for sure, 1.5 - 2 times for a two queen? You also have to take into account how many workers. It's too early to say because I do not know how successful they will be yet. But so far, they are doing great and have laid a lot of eggs.

Aside from C. clarithorax, all these have very large majors. I have colonies of C. vicinus which have majors nearly as large as the queen.

Original post updated with images and pricing on C. clarithorax, C. sansabeanus, and V. pergandei.

Even if you are not interesting in adopting, enjoy the pics! More images to come as workers eclose.

Added a youtube video of C. quercicolas.

Waiting for the Camponotus to fly in the higher elevations where I live. If I find more when they do, will sell a few I currently have.

Also lowered pricing on C. vicinus to $55 for 2-4 workers.
