I collected this ant in my garden under a brick in Detroit Michigan. I collected the ants yesterday on 8/15/16. I collected workers that are approximately 1mm in length and the queen is approximately 4.5mm. The queens head is a dark red/brown, her thorax is lighter brown, and her abdomen is an even lighter brown. The workers all are one solid shade of light brown similar to the color of the queens abdomen. The nest was under a brick laying in the soil which is a very clay soil.

Solenopsis molesta.
If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.
Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.
