I found this big girl trying to start her nest in my compost tumbler about 2 weeks ago, around the 4th,and she already has eggs! She is at least 1.5 cm. I used a ruler, but she wouldn't straighten out, kept her head down. I think she was trying to guard her eggs. I'm sorry for the quality of the pics, my cameras are dead and I can't find my chargers, so all I had was my phone.

That is most likely a Camponotus castaneus queen, however I may be wrong. Anyone else have an opinion?

Most likely Camponotus castaneus but it could be Camponotus americanus.
