Best Answer Miles , February 29 2016 - 6:58 PM

Yes, this is a queen. The wing scars are clear and the thorax is very much gyne-shaped.

Hi all,

I have a VERY tiny queen I need confirmation on.

She's only 2.5mm so its extremely hard to get decent photos. I have managed to get some good top down shots with my microscope.

The photo below is from the internet. It was the best images I could find of this Genus. Ant on the left is a worker. Ant of the right is the queen.

The photo below is a comparison photo of the image above that I took of the queen I have found, on the right. And a worker I also found on the left.

This photo is a actual photo of a worker on the left and what I believe to be the queen on the right.

So what do you guys think?

Queen, or some sort of major or another species altogether.

B.

If you can get a side picture, the height of the thorax will give us a good idea as to whether or not she may have had wings.

I think I may be seeing wing scars, but it could just be a trick of the light.  Perhaps also add a flashlight shining on the ant to brighten things up.

Thanks for your reply Crystals.

Below are two photos I managed to get through my microscope. They're not the greatest but should hopefully show enough detail to determine if this is a queen.
