I been thinking my formicariums size. Newbie is hard to choose right size. I have Pheidole Indica and I think at my nest is too big. Colony size in "only" 1000 workers. My lasius Niger for example are in one quite small chamber (in hibernation), I count them 200 workers, on the basis of Pheidole indica accommodate thousands in my smaller formicarium. What size is good formicarium for 1000 ant .

10?, 10 000?

Pheidole is a very fast growing species. Within a couple months they could easily double their colony size. I don't quite know about the picture. Are you asking if the formicarium pictured is of adequate size to house the ants? If so it can be hard to judge without swing them or at least having pics. As a guess I would say that that would be a good size formicarium.

I meant exactly the nest in the image. I think it is too big for 1000 pheidole workers.   There is about 20 chambers. I count smaller nest with smaller chambers at they are 100 in one chamber. . So, it would make a 2000 in picture nest.

It is good go go a little bigger for some growing room. Like I said, Pheiodole can double their size in no time. Unless you wan't to keep on moving them, I wouldn't go too much smaller.
