I am coming into a Pogonomyrmex colony of 500+ workers. What seeds do they eat, and besides seeds, what should I feed them? Can they be kept in light? Do they need hibernation? I appreciate any answer and if anyone has any other information feel free to share!

If the ants were locally collected, do you get snow, or very cold weather?  If yes, then you will need hibernation.  If no, then they may just slow down for part of the year.

So far, all of my ant colonies adjusted to ambient room lighting within a month.  Just avoid direct sunlight.

Can't go wrong with crickets, fruitflies, and other insects. Then you can try different seeds (shelled unsalted sunflower, wildflower mixes, chia, etc.) crushed and whole, Blue 100, etc. The latter I find vary with acceptance, but everyone loves eating bugs.

There's californicus everywhere where I am, and it rarely drops below 40 in the winter, so I doubt they hibernate.

Camponotus vicinus, Crematogaster 1, Crematogaster 2, Formica francoeuri, *, *, Myrmecocystus testaceus, Novomessor cockerelli, Pheidole hyatti, Pogonomyrmex californicus, Pogonomyrmex rugosus, Solenopsis invicta
