I collected a Pheidole queen this spring, and it has been about four months since then.
From the very beginning, the colony seemed “off,” but I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was wrong.

As the worker numbers increased, they started dying one by one, with a 2–3 day interval between deaths, and always without any clear reason.

Even after four months, there are still only four workers in the colony.

Humidity is correct, vibration is minimal, and they receive enough food.
The queen is laying well and behaves normally, but I still don’t understand why the workers keep dying like this.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Pheidole colonies, or know what might cause this kind of slow, constant worker loss?

By this point Pheidole should have a lot more workers. Consider changing location. Do you have the colony on heat?
