Woodland area of northeast kansas
Approximately 6.5mm in length
Reddish brown hue with even redder legs, shiny and bald texture
Larger than usual thorax with average sized gaster.
Acts and moves like a queen, doesnt seem typical of most of the species i have found around here and unusually seen this time of year

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. Just seems really odd to come across one this time of year.
