1. Location of collection: Found in several locations around the town, including a park.
2. Date of collection: 9/12/25
3. Habitat of collection: Sidewalks next to grass
4. Length: I do not have a ruler
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: A dark red and black mixed around over the body, with a highly patterned thorax and a shiny abdomen with many long hairs.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Textured thorax
7. Anything else distinctive: Toughest and messiest genus to ID, good luck IDers! My initial thought is Myrmica americana.
8. Nest description: Unknown
9. Nuptial flight time and date: Nuptial flight on 9/11/25
10 . Post the clearest pictures possible of the top, side, and face of the ant in question, and if possible, their nest and the habitat they were collected in.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8
