This happened yesterday in Massachusetts, I'm not certain what species these guys were and unfortunately my phone died when I tried to get pictures, but I think they were yellow lasius? The workers were all small-medium yellow ants and there were alates taking off everywhere! I am looking around today to see if I can spot any queens
2025 ant queens:
1 camponotus pennsylvanicus (foundingly founding still)
1 camponotus novaeboracensis (founding colony)
1 camponotus chromaiodes (founding colony)
1 lasius brevicornis (founding colony)

Parasitic Lasius
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8

Aw, too bad they're parasitic. I found 2 wingless queens today but i think I will just let them go.

well if you have any local host lasius, if you're comfortable I'd suggest looting 'em for pupae and trying out the callow method! It's a lot of fun raising parasites.
Manica invidia (1 queen, ~200 workers)
Manica invidia (1 colonies, 1 queens plus 3 workers)
Lasius niger (single queen, ~200 workers - naturalistic, predatory set-up)
Lasius americanus (1 colony, ~10 workers)
Tetramorium immigrans (3 colonies, 3 queens, ~ five workers each | 1 colony, 1 queen, ~1200 workers)
Formica aserva (aserva queen, ~15 Formica neorufibarbis workers)
