I caught 12 lasius queens yesterday morning. They flew the evening before and spent the night under some loose rocks. I assume they are either neoniger or americanus.
Location: Okemos, Michigan.
Date of Collection: 9/1/25 but flight was on 8/31/25
Habitat: Grassy field and yard
Length:8-8.5ish millimeters
Coloration: a shiny golden brown
Nest: Dirt nest with a large mound
Flight date: Started around 7:30-8 and ended at 9-10. There were 2 flights separated by a very cold week. First flight was on August 22 and the second was on August 31.
