I caught 12 lasius queens yesterday morning. They flew the evening before and spent the night under some loose rocks. I assume they are either neoniger or americanus.

Location: Okemos, Michigan.

Date of Collection: 9/1/25 but flight was on 8/31/25

Habitat: Grassy field and yard

Length:8-8.5ish millimeters

Coloration: a shiny golden brown

Nest: Dirt nest with a large mound

Flight date: Started around 7:30-8 and ended at 9-10. There were 2 flights separated by a very cold week. First flight was on August 22 and the second was on August 31.

I no little to nothing about Lasius but from what I do know that looks like Lasius neoniger (the Labor Day ant).

Ok thanks. They also had a huge flight today where I caught 20+ more queens and I saw solenopis molesta+ bracymyrmex delphis flying. Sadly the delphis queen that I was going to catch was stepped on by passerby. I did not manage to catch molesta either. Surprisingly, I found a pavement ants queen at 9:45.
