Hello everyone,
The workers are about 5 mm long and the queen is about 1 cm.
The queen has two brown bands on her abdomen, and the petioles are elongated and distinct. Both the workers and the queen have downward-facing abdomens.

This colony was found in an area with high humidity and dense vegetation, but the nest was located in a part with relatively drier soil (for certain reasons, stating the country or region is not possible).
If it is not possible to identify the species based on these characteristics, please focus on answering my second question. Thank you.

**Colony management question:**When collecting the colony, I accidentally took a few alates as well. Should I separate them or leave them with the queen? I understand they probably won’t survive long since they don’t mate in a closed environment. Thanks in advance for any guidance! 🌱

Go into your profile and edit it and add your location, (not exact just state and maybe city) so we know in what area you found your ants, otherwise it will be hard to identify your ants.

The ants go marching.

Currently keeping:

Brachymyrmex patagonicus
