Hi I recently acquired a small colony of lasius brevicornis, and compared to the camponotus that ants i already have, these nanitics look like microants to me. They are the smallest ants I have ever seen, and i was looking for any kind of founding nests recommendations for them. I am afraid that they will escape anything i currently have now that I have actually seen their 1 mm nanitic size. There are only about 10 of them right now, so they can stay in a tube for now, but i want to be prepared with an escape proof tiny ant nest and outworld that will be appropriate for their size and species. These are the first ants I've had from Lasius, the first that aren't carpenters for that matter.

2025 ant queens:

1 camponotus pennsylvanicus (foundingly founding still)

1 camponotus novaeboracensis (founding colony)

1 camponotus chromaiodes (founding colony)

lasius brevicornis (founding colony)

Tar Heel Ants setups designed for tiny species will work. 100% silicone to seal up gaps will be your best friend. Also have good barriers in your outworld, and preferably an open top design with escape barrier applied under neath the lid.

Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

For an outworld any airtight/watertight container will work, along with a fluon or talcohal barrier for whenever you open the lid.
