Camponotus chromaiodes

I concur. The New World Carpenter Ants of the Hyperdiverse Genus Camponotus. Volume 1 is pretty specific that the way to ID Camponotus chromaiodes from the closely related "Camponotus herculeanus group" is the presence of orange tones on the front of the abdomen.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8
