help catching pheidole californica in Portland, oregon

so I have had no luck finding any pheidole californica and I need some help. everything I have read says its in my area but I have only ever seen 1 queen from the species. drowned in my pool :(. I have been trying to find out if I need a black light to catch it or something else. any help appreciated!
