Ant Queen ID Assistance Request, Upper Penninsula, MI

1. Location (on a map) of collection: Fayette, MI
2. Date of collection: 06-18-2025
3. Habitat of collection: hardwood forest
4. Length (from head to gaster): 7.25mm +\- .5mm (I know it says be accurate but she was constantly in motion while trying to measure)
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: dark brown-black body, brownish-yellowish striping along gaster, legs and antennae fade to same colors,
6. Distinguishing characteristics: n/a
7. Distinguishing behavior: n/a
8. Nest description: found wandering solo
9. Nuptial flight time and date: unknown

I think it’s a Lasius americanus, but the only thing I’m usually right about is that I’m usually wrong lol

thank you!!! I just finished up reading stateside ants “how-to” on getting a colony started. I have a ton of Lasius neoniger (actual Lasius neoniger someone else who knows what they’re talking about already confirmed ID on lol) colonies on my property and already collected a solid base of brood and workers. I’ll get a journal going. Hoping for the best lol
