Hey guys!
.... I have been blessed with the privilege of keeping one of the largest Pheidole species in the world.
So I've been studying in Northern Laos (near Yunnan) recently, and came across a beautiful Pheidole sinica queen during one of my hikes (!) Since she was wandering in a not-very-safe place, and (mainly) because I fell in love with her at first sight , I impulsively decided to scoop her up and keep her.
She is now in a regular test tube setup in my dorm -- boy, is she massive! In one of the following photos you can see her next to an Odontoponera traversa - and she absolutely dwarfs her!
I will give my best effort to raise her into a large colony, and since she is from around the area, hopefully help her to eventually raise new alates, which I can release back into the local population and help with their fight against invading RIFA. I will put in any major updates and progress in this journal
But I have practically no experience nor confidence keeping Pheidole, and I'm really scared I'd mess this up - so any suggestions will be very welcome~
Thanks in advance!
