Hello, I have a new queen that I caught. On sidewalk in front of home. Caught July 31, 2024. She is about 7 mm long. Deep red head and thorax, black abdomen. Flight in morning after night rain.

			here's a tip for you- disable auto-focus, and tap on the ant to manual focus. that should make your shots better.

			Identifications from out-of-focus photos are always tentative but Pheidole seems correct to me.

			Looks like Pheidole but if not Pheidole could be solenopsis or Pogonomyrmex. Though I’m not sure if Pogonomyrmex can get that small.
It is not Pogonomyrmex.
