I caught a colony of Lasius sp. this past Friday w/ 1 queen and 130+ workers. I found them in a dead part of a bush. They were next to what seems to have been a Crematogaster sp. satellite colony. Pictures of this new colony will come soon.

The bulk of the colony was divided into two containers, one with the queen and 30+workers, and one with the rest of the workers. Yesterday, I put them in the same container.

Just moved the majority of the colony (apparently 3 queens) into a small spice jar (washed with soap). I'll have to move the rest into there tomorrow. They have some small batches of brood, so they should have a good year.

If its three queens I doubt its lasius. They definitely don't look like brevicornis or nearcticus. Might be tapinoma sessile.

Looks like Tapinoma sessile and/or Liometopum occidentale/luctuosum, but Liometopum are not normally polygynous.

Agreed, and he doesn’t seem to be on the west coast of North America so it’s probably tapinoma sessile.

I don't think that they are doing to well. Ever since little fungus flies started to pop up about 1-2 weeks ago, their activity began to decrease. I will probably move them to a test tube set up.
