I found this queen with half a wing cut of rendering her flight less. She was walking dangerously close to my dog. I caught her in the hummingbird feeder I was holding and brought her in.

I built her a front opening enclosure and gave her a old Polistes fuscatus nest I had lying around and a piece of wood with tons of nooks and cranies if she decideds to hibernate. She has been standing on the nest day in day out. I have to dip a q-tip in honey to feed her. 20231124-153019.jpg

I modified a ten gallon tank for her. She does not seem to be interested in the nest any more. She keeps hiding in the old purple Martin nest I put in there. I do believe she wants to hibernate. So I put the tank in the garage for her.
