Found in the middle of Georgia (state)

Reddish/brown head and thorax. with a yellow gaster

Doesn’t look like the normal fire ants as their gasters are black and this queen is a little bigger than them.

Sorry for the bad quality of the photos, but thanks for any help

Aphenogaster ashmeadi. Not fully sure, but color looks about the same.

Keeping:

3x - S. molesta

1x - C. chromaiodes

2x - F. pallidefulva

2x - C. cerasi

1x - B. depilis

2x P. imparis (colonies) 3x P. imparis queens (1x queen in test tube, 3x queens in test tube, and 6x queens in another test tube. Can't wait to see the results!)

Check out my C. chromaiodes journal here: https://www.formicul...aiodes-journal/

Never ever ID ants using colour.

Edited by ANTS_KL, January 16 2024 - 3:49 PM.

Young ant keeper with a decent amount of knowledge on local ant species.

YouTube: https://m.youtube.co...uKsahGliSH7EqOQ (It's pretty dead. Might upload again soon, don't expect my voice to sound the same though.)

Currently kept ant species, favorites have a star in front of their names (NOT in alphabetical order, also may be outdated sometimes): Camponotus irritans inferior, Ooceraea biroi, Pheidole parva, Nylanderia sp., Paraparatrechina tapinomoides, Platythyrea sp., Anochetus sp., Colobopsis sp. (cylindrica group), Crematogaster ferrarii, Polyrhachis (Myrma) cf. pruinosa, Polyrhachis (Cyrtomyrma) laevissima, Tapinoma sp. (formerly Zatapinoma)

Death count: Probably over a hundred individual queens and colonies by now. I cannot recall whatsoever.

Also, almost none of the people who posted these old ID threads will ever see them again. Not much point in reviving them seven months later. That’s an eternity ago on a forum like this.
