How to safely catch and feed wild insects to ants?

I have many ants but my roach colony can't keep up with them. I find wild insects often and I tried it once.two of my ant colonies have gotten sick and one died. Is there a way to remove pesticides. I read that a sea salt water mix or vinegar will but do they work.

Best bet is to gather in areas free from pesticides.

I'd not take too many chances with wild insects.
I like to feed my larger colonies mostly chicken, fish (especially Salmon) and eggs. Whenever I eat I break off a little piece for them. That would take a burden off your roaches just make sure the pieces you give aren't heavily seasoned.

Pesticides are a big problem, but the world is not coated in them. Go to a nature park that is far from any farms or ChemLawn/ TrueGreen lawn care fanatics.

Okay. I have two trails that go far away from houses and buildings so they will have very limited to no pesticides. I will also start feeding my ants more of my food.

I gave all my colonies unseasoned chicken and they all loved it. One is the biggest feeding reactions from my Aphaenogaster and Monomorium Minimum I've ever seen.

Yeah, my girls also enjoy chicken and egg and as a special treat (NOT on a daily basis) they also go bonkers for ham and liver pate.
