the queen was found in very sandy and dry conditions under my compost pin

the last rain was 4 days or so ago

the queen is red with a black gaster and is 4-5mm

the head is the same size as the gaster (i don't know why i put this here)

sorry again i have to use a computer camera

I'm assuming that might be Solenopsis invicta, but the picture is a bit too blurry to verify. If it's actually 5 mm then it could probably be Pheidole.

i am assuming Pheidole because the queen shows great similarities and i do have a giant colony in my frontyard that has been producing winged ants. i have been waiting for a while to find a queen.

What time did you catch her? She might be P. parva/metallescens (just a guess)

I don't think that it is invicta, the smallest invicta I have ever caught was closer to 6mm and the red marbling mixed with the black is a very distinguishing trait.. but it is VERY hard to go off of this picture. Could you ask one of your parents to borrow a camera? Again, I highly recommend, if tou can borrow one, to put her on a white surface (find a piece of paper if need be) and have a flashlight or something so her details can really pop
