1. Location (on a map) of collection: Little Falls, NJ, US -Friends backyard
2. Date of collection:  April 14, 2023
3. Habitat of collection: Under a cinder block on the driveway
4. Length (from head to gaster): 15mm 
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: I think it's a light brown.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Not sure
7. Distinguishing behavior: Ran around a lot until she laid eggs 
8. Nest description: N/A

9. Nuptial flight time and date: N/A

Camponotus of some type one of the best beginner species, I was about to say Modoc or Pennsylvanicus but the red band at the base of her gaster makes me think otherwise. maybe Vicinus or other like that, but they all have simile care.

Looking back she is Chromaiodes, Vicinus doesn't live in new jersey.

Oh awesome thank you guys, this actually my first queen. What should I feed them first once the first batch of workers arrive?

That will be a month or two but she already has a large batch of brood and when they do arrive a small drop of honey and a small insect to go with will help them grow.
