Since I got back into ant keeping, I also like to show my love for these animals.

Luckily, there is some pretty jewelry available featuring ants- amber.

Wearing a unique piece of natural history, with an ant that is said to have been encased in amber 30 million years ago (!!!!!) is pretty amazing.

At least for me.

So I ordered a beautiful piece of golden amber from a certified amber dealer from Lithuania.

Which I fully intend to wear to work.

And here it is, of course I was going to share this with you!

Sadly the ant is at a pretty awkward angle, so I am not able to say for sure if she might be a Myrmicine or not.

Looks more like a Formicine ant to me. Very nice piece!

Woah, that almost looks like an ant from the Dolichoderinae family.

Yeah, sadly, as I said, it is stuck in an awkward angle and I so far was not able to identify the subfamily.

Right, so could be Formicinae or Dolichoderinae.

Very cool.

I guess you might be right, since there definitely is no stinger, which you can sometimes see in amber ants.

Anyways:

It is so well preserved, you can still see the tiny hairs on the legs.
