I found some tiny orange ants eating a dog treat. They look like pharoh ants but they don't live in this area of VA. Any ideas.

Not Myrmica, Myrmica would have larger eyes, a boxier mesosoma, propodeal spines, proportionally larger petiole and postpetiole, and I don't know of any Myrmica in the region with lighter spots on the 1st tergite of the gaster.

Yeah those are definitely monomorium pharaonis. Unfortunately, it appears you have a house infestation.

Tramp species like this will pop up sporadically just about anywhere, luckily they usually don't establish long term and are restricted indoors due to winter, if the area gets cold.
