Caught a queen last year and just woke her up from hibernation. I gave her tissue paper and some nectar and water. Would like some tip with keeping them.

I've also tried keeping this species! They are super hard to get to start their nests and are super picky on the wood they use, but after that, they are super easy! My suggestion is to use 2 different platforms on top, one that's wood, and the other that's concrete. They've been noted to make nests in basements, so kinda imagine that kind of environment. Provide lots of types of wood, open access to water, sugars, and proteins. Also, I would keep them in a huge Terrarium that is tall (like for chameleons). They need that space. I had a huge nest in one that had about 200-300 individuals! Sadly, they always die at the end of the year in my areaš„² But it was a super fun experience!! After the queen had made her nest, you can make the terrarium an open setup, because they tend not to like moving to other places. Hope this helps and good luck!
Keeps:
1:Aphaenogaster fulva
1:Camponotus chromaiodes
1:Camponotus casteanus
1:Formica sp.
1:Pogonomymex occidentalis
12:Prenolepis imparis

You might want to keep her in hibernation till it warms up outside they tend to need to free range cuz they hate being couptup and they do eat a lot
