Due to recent changes in the ant keeping community, there are probably going to be some changes here that some people might not like. There is only so much someone can give away for free when it's only appreciated by a small handful of people. To those people, I want to say thanks for all of your support.

Yikes!  What kind of changes?  And what's changing in the ant keeping community?

I think this forum is great!  How is it not going anywhere?  Where do you want it to go?  what can we do to help it go there?

Drew pays for this forum with his own pocket. I think he is going to have ads, or a loss of content.

I have to admit, after looking around at the other forums, this is the cleanest and easiest for me to read. I mainly just lurk and learn, but I wouldn't mind paying something.

I agree. Drew, can you add a link/thread to donate?

Just tried to share a link to a thread with my girlfriend so she could understand what I was talking about. Looks like the forum is members only now? I'm glad I managed to find you guys and browsed before the lock down, as I probably wouldn't have made an account just to see if the forum was worthwhile.

I'm assuming this is one of the changes that people might not like?

I'm confused. I just loaded this page in chrome (I'm not logged in there) and it loaded up just fine.

The "Formiculture.com" and "Market Place" subforums are viewable by guests. Making an account is really pretty simple on this forum. You can even create one using a Facebook account to make it even easier. This is only a temporary thing.

Try a page from Ant Keeping. The announcements section is public.

Edited to add: This isn't necessarily a problem, I was just raising a possible side effect of putting content behind a registration wall. Another possible outcome is an increase in members.

This actually makes more sense. When I view the forum on my computer I'm logged in and the latest posts (column to the right on the main page) contains one set of posts. If I look at the forum on my phone where I haven't logged in the latest posts looks very different -- the posts are much older. I guess that the "latest posts" is basically the "latest posts you'd have permission to see".
