There was a huge RIFA nuptial flight in Jacksonville. I managed to grab 7 queens. They are each in a separate tube. If they all successfully found I will try to merge them.

Nice find! trap jaws are sensitive to light and vibrations more than most ants so make sure to put it in a good area.

Trap jaws huh...creat an outworld for her,add substrate to the test tube for spinning of cocoons,feed her sugar water and protein once a day and imo place a half injured insect for her.for me,it builds aggressiveness of the ants towards their prey and they become a successful colony.

I ended up releasing both of them. I just don't like semi claustrals.
But I am changing this journals topic to a fire ant journal.

I found another queen under a small rock. I have put them in 4 groups of two queens each.
Group 1 has laid scattered eggs.
Group 2 nothing
Group 3 Out of the two queens in this group one is abnormally small.
Group 4 nothing
Group 1 has laid scattered eggs.

There was a small phedolie megalapaca colony under a rock. I added the four megalapaca queens and their colony and two Invicta queens in a petri dish. The seem to be cooperating but one of the Invicta queens keeps on sensing the other queens and then running away and coming back. I have I can make a multispecies colony.
