i don't keep ants but i do love them a lot and make art of them, so i figured i'd post some

NkTZO7V.png

fanciful image of a formica species waiting out winter in her thatched nest. ink with alcohol marker coloring.

0XxBYq7.png

an anthropomorphic ant drinking some tea. this was when i was just starting to get into ants so the anatomy is not great haha. ink and marker as well.

kQ0phNE.png

i don't aim to be super technically proficient with anatomy, so this probably has a lot of errors to more experienced ant people. more for my own reference than anything haha. ink

fhbEFl2.jpg

oil pastel pogonomyrmex. proportions are very off haha. i seem to struggle with that a lot. i love how big their heads are in comparison to their mesosoma but my brain defaults to mammal proportions since I've drawn mammals for most of my life.

d4xHgBU.png

polyergus. i know they're not that red in real life, just playing around with color. ink with marker again.

8uLcgWg.png

another pogonomyrmex with posca paint markers.

that's all i have today.

Wow those are awsome! I've tried drawing ants before and it came out looking alot like a crushed one.

Been keeping ants since January of 2021

Great job. I can totally tell you took time to review the ant anatomy before you drew, something that most people don't do. keep up the good work!

Aww, thank you!!! I'm honored to be compared to bob ross!!

i could take requests as long as its understood that i have a physical, full time job and am typically too tired to do much art so i am really really REALLY slow these days hahaha

like my original intention was to only post on this topic when i have nice new ant art but i still havent made any nice new ant art and its already been a month haha

so here's some older doodles from last year

ASgs1mf.png

nonexistent ant using existing ant parts

sb3VdwW.png

gigantiops! and some random plant notes because why not

aEFXeRy.png

no specific species in mind but since i drew a lot of pogonomyrmex, it ends up having a lot of their features.

all those colors are just me testing markers before i use them. and the fish and coral species list was for a piece i was doing for my father haha.
